We will present our final 2015-16 season concert at Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church in Evanston, IL on Sunday May 22.
The performance will be an array of beauty and drama that will include World War I commemorative works, songs about love and loss, as well as sounds from Brazil.
We are thrilled to continue our work with Minnesota composer Timothy C. Takach and will perform his composition A Worshipper and a Man.
“A composer can only hope to have his or her work performed with as much accuracy and emotion as Cor Cantiamo. They pour themselves into their work as musicians and as high caliber singers. They truly bring the music to life,” said Takach regarding his experience collaborating with Cor Cantiamo.
This concert will also highlight the music of Morten Lauridsen with a performance of his choral cycle “Mid-Winter Songs.” Other featured work at this concert will include World War I commemorative works from renowned composer Cecilia McDowall, a setting of John McCrae’s poem, “In Flander’s Field,” and selections from Renaissance master Tomás Luis de Victoria’s Mass for the Dead. Other works include contemporary psalm settings by Jake Runestad, Roxanna Panufnik, and John Metcalf and choral music from Brazil.
